Local food for local stores – Willowbrook Foods

Willowbrook FoodsWillowbrook Foods was established in 1968. However, the land on which it was set up has been farmed by the McCann family in County Down for over 200 years. The 100-acre farm is situated in an area rich in fertile soil - soil noted for its ability to produce vegetables of a very high standard. That’s one good reason why SuperValu uses Willowbrooks for its own-brand salads and vegetables.

Willowbrook MD John McCann is keen on diversification in farming and saw an opportunity for local farmers to grow and supply salad crops. It’s a vision that’s growing in significance as consumers increasingly demand reductions in food miles.

With a nearly 200-strong workforce, Willowbrook Foods is a major employer for Killinchy and the surrounding region. It also has a strong track record of investment in the local community.
