In June 2007 our Musgrave Simplifies Retail (MSR) system went live within our Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland division. This was the culmination of three years work by cross functional teams and the delivery of a major part of one of the largest IT projects undertaken in Ireland.
Today we support more than 187 SuperValu stores and 441 Centra stores throughout the Republic of Ireland. They all need goods. They all need information. And they need both goods and information delivered on time, efficiently and accurately. These must also be underpinned by best-in-class processes that help our retail partners deliver the optimum range to their customers that satisfy their needs.
Until recently demand has been manageable, but with a growing emphasis on fresh food, a significant expansion of range and a growing number of retail partners we knew we had to improve systems to enable our customers to maintain their edge.
This is where MSR comes in. When fully implemented, we and our retail partners will use a shared solution that will streamline processes as well as simplify how information is organised and reported.
We will provide a common means of ordering product across all ranges and this will be supported by timely, precise and relevant information to help ensure that an accurate order is placed.
We will provide robust waste management functionality which will help reduce waste and this information will also be visible to store staff during order placement. This should help ensure that they are ordering not just the right product, but the right quantity, to satisfy customer needs.
The next phase of the MSR project is to implement this solution in all of our retail partners’ stores over the coming years. It is planned to pilot this solution in a number of stores towards the end of 2008.
